A semi-independent living program for young women between the ages of 16 and 21 who are EITHER wards of the courts or who have been recommended by other agencies.

Mission Statement

To assist motivated individuals with the development of goals that will form the vehicle by which they enter the mainstream of community life.

 

Ada's Place program creates a friendly, nurturing, and home-like environment.  Residents are encouraged to draw upon each other and the staff for support.  The program focuses on the acquisition of independent living skills in areas such as housing, money management, safety, housekeeping, transportation, and community resources.  Participation in an educational program and employment are required of all residents.

 

Ada's Place is a semi-independent living program for young women between the ages of16 and 21, who are either wards of the courts or who have been recommended by other agencies.  Each resident has her own furnished efficiency-style apartment with a refrigerator, microwave, private bathroom, and study area.  The building has a 7 day, 24 hour staff and security system.

 

Case management services include assistance in securing employment, pursuing an educational plan, crisis-intervention, and acquiring independent living skills.  Ada's Place also connects residents with outside agencies for services such as educational assistance, mental health issues, and appropriate adult services.  After completing the semi-independent living program, a resident can be transitioned to her own apartment with on-going case management services.

 

The building at Ada's Place includes a computer room with educational software, free laundry facilities, an exercise room, basketball court, TV room, community area, and a large kitchen and pantry which are used to teach basic cooking skills to the residents.

 

Admission Requirements

  • Female, 16 - 21 years of age

  • Court ordered or agency referred placement

  • Willingness to commit to the program rules and expectations

  • Each applicant is evaluated on an individual basis

Ada's Place is named in honor of the late Howard F. Foltz, Sr., father of Quest for Excellence President, Howard F. Foltz, Jr.
